Yes, BDOTNET is a happening and wonderful world of technology. Again but not the least there was a great event for the web technologist called as Web Experts Meet was organised at the Microsoft Building in bangalore last saturday (20/1/2007). I was all excited for the meet as usual, more of because my friend Pooran was delivering a talk. The meet had a agenda for 3 talks, starting with Pooran on Web Services. It was usual pooran's style of giving the presentation :). He talked on the web services , the do and don't . Excellent in all. Not to be forgotten he is a founder of a company called Zealous. Great man indeed, filled with the passion for technology.

Moving further we had a session on Windows Live from Kevin of Microsoft. He took us through the various Live initaitives and the offerings. I was totally impressed with the live local.

After this was a quick break. You could as usual see people crowded around the speaker. Then came the session from Jason from Infragistics. He started off with the various controls that they offered. It was quite impressive. For a suprise there was too many questions for Jason. He went on to distribute the stress balls. It was a lot of fun indeed. In the end he wanted to give away a gift and it was licence for the Infragistics product. So he choose to randomly pick up a 3 digit number. This three digit number was that on the visitors badge. And one of them won .. great.. congrats to him...

Then was the distribution of the Middleware Mania blog contest winner and it was for me :). Pooran too announced the Web Experts Meet Blog Contest.. So i think more bloggers this time....

Anyways a great event at the end.. Thanks to the organisers.

ASP.NET 4.0 Feature - URL Routing

Let’s see the new feature in ASP.NET 4.0 known as “URL Routing”. URL Routing is a feature which is driven by the ASP.NET URL routing engine which enables the application to route to custom urls instead of actual urls which may have some querystrings etc. In the past we have seen urls like http://localhost/NewStore/Titles.aspx can be now show as http://localhost/NewStore/AllTitles or http://localhost/NewStore/Titles.aspx?ID=2 can be now shown as http://localhost/NewStore/Products/Fiction . Doesn’t this look great? Now let’s see how do we achieve this. We would be using the “System.Web.Routing” class which products us a method “MapPageRoute” which helps to do the routing. Let us see a simple example where we would have two pages one which shows All the Titles and another which shows Title for a specific Author Id. For this example I am using the Pubs Database. Tips on JQuery Intellisense in VS 2008

I was trying to get the JQuery Intellisense working in VS 2008. But I was getting the error “Error updating JScript IntelliSense: Object doesn't support this property or method @ 2139:1” . I was wondering what was the problem. Then through this blog http://patrickyong.net/2009/05/08/error-updating-jscript-intellisense-object-doesnt-support-this-property-or-method-21391/ I found that the “jquery-1.3.2-vsdoc2.js” downloaded from the site has a 2 after “vsdoc” . So the file is not recoginized. So just remove that 2 and it works Cheers!!!
